Promethean is expanding its high-powered team to lead the innovation of our next generation of EdTech products. You will have the opportunity to own and drive solutions that transform how learning happens – making common tasks easier and giving teachers more instructional time each day. You will be responsible for…
The definition and delivery of the core platform used across all of our products, sister companies and 3rd party vendors. You will own all functional requirements including the ecommerce engine, content management, app store, storage (both private and public cloud), community management and data/analytics/learning intelligence. You will also define the non-functional requirements that influence security/privacy/compliance, scalability, performance, reliability, and licensing. You will also be concerned with requirements for world-wide operations while minimizing cost.
Key visionary for the next generation education SaaS platform, help define transformative business and product innovations. You will help guide the organization on both product strategy as well as end-to-end execution from concept to sales. Responsibility will include designing a cohesive solution blueprint that also includes build, partner, acquire strategies. You will collaborate with the executive team to define near & long-term business goals with associated product roadmap and execution plans. Other responsibilities will include:
Validate and size market opportunities, identify technology disruptors and business model innovation that can result in capture of new markets and price premium positions
Define a multi-year business plan in alignment with corporate goals; define product strategy, roadmap, target markets, pricing, sales & market strategies
Drive definition of specific releases and the detailed requirements including for the platform components
Conduct regular data-driven business reviews for your product portfolio that analyze product execution and revenue/market accomplishments
Identify and lead business development opportunities in the form of alliances, partnerships, acquisitions, which enable growth of the business
Gather industry, competitor & customer research to inform leadership, sales and product teams
Manage release milestones; guide product planning and requirements definition for the engineering team through collaboration with program management using an agile process
Collaborate with marketing on product launches, collateral review, RFPs, sales materials; partner with sales team, on key client presentations, competitive positioning, roadmaps
Work with services and support on development of internal & external training docs
Travel for collaboration with other internal teams and sales/customer visits
The right candidate has…
10+ years product management experience during which you have managed product managers and multiple products and teams from concept to launch.
Technical undergraduate degree
Familiar with AWS cloud services (or equivalent) such as EC2, ECS, RDS, ElasticCache, DynamoDB, S3, API Gateway and IoT
At least 5 years of experience in platform product management where the platform has supported multiple product initiatives and/or growth of external ecosystem of partners transacting on the platform
Demonstrated significant innovation and/or disruptive thinking
Management experience with both direct reports and cross-functional teams
Agile product management of commercial software (NOT internal projects)
Initiative & ownership to drive measurable team, product & sales performance
Use of data-driven methods to get executive buy-in and force strategic outcomes
Strong technical competence to guide tradeoffs, good design; leverage trends understand threats and potential partnership/integration opportunities
Extensive experience with launch and go-to-market deliverables especially with an indirect/channel sales forces; demonstrated ability to sell/influence customers and prospects
Ideally, experience with both enterprise as well as consumer software products
